The Veron has been attributed as the worlds quickest production car that can also brake from 252 mph to zero in a mere 10 seconds, and was sold for $1.2 million . A private owner in the UK apparently hydroplaned and ditched it outside of London. I can only imagine the call to the insurance company…
Being a native of NW America, I can appreciate the necessity for these guys to go out and have some fun, no matter what the conditions. When good weather comes around only a few weeks a year, you change with your environment. In Counsel Grounds State Park, the Merrill Ice Draggers gather at the Upper Wisconsin River to stage their own 1/8 mile drag racing event, and have been doing so each year since since 1965. With records standing in the Outlaw class at 140.09 mph at 5.780 ET the only thing that slows down their time are wavy ice surfaces.
Check out the site for the Merril Ice Draggers. And If you want to race, don’t forget: “Nail class vehicles MUST have a fire extinguisher.”
Ever wake up in the morning with that urge to go out and learn how to drive a tank? Or even better get in a tank battle without the hassle of later hacing some staff sargent breathing down your neck about the shine on your boots? Its a wonder that the Army is able to recruit anyone these days when access to these big toys is readily available. Now granted a WWII era tanks aren’t exactly state of the art technology, but where else are you going to be able to live out your boyhood fantasies with your own crew equipped with helmets, headsets and suits for 2 hours at £75 and not get deployed to Iraq? And don’t get me wrong, I think nations soldiers will always be heros in my book. Invite the family out for a weekend of anger management, where pointing a real 40mm cannon at your boss/friends/family feels so much better than imagining it in your mind. Personally I think if more people took up this option we would have fewer road rage incidents on the highways. Check it out at Driver Dream Days where you can rent more than just tanks for some fun behind the wheel.
Wheelman is a stylish two-wheeler that brings together the best of surfing, skating and skiing concept gears. It cruises along on spokeless wheels triggered by a 43cc 2-stroke engine. Drivers can easily fix in their feet into the wheels and drive it whilst standing upright. The oil holding capacity of the Wheelman is around one liter and delivers an hour and a half of smooth riding at a top speed of between 16-19mph, which is pumped via squeezing a pneumatic ball held in your hand. It steers with body and foot movements.
